Created to Create

Created to Create

| Shane Dennehey
In the beginning, we were created in His image. We were made by the ultimate maker—the one who created everything. He made you. You were crafted to be like Him. That means you’re here to create too. There’s no getting around it, we’re all made to make.

Some people embrace their creative birthright, while others suppress it and say they’re not a “creative type.” I believe we’re all creative—we all can make. Sure, there are varying levels of creative prowess, but mostly, the difference between “creative types” and others is their understanding of creative principles and commitment to do the work, day after day, until they achieve status amongst the artistic elite. Creativity is like a muscle, if you don’t work it, it'll atrophy, and you’ll lose it.

If you’ve ever told anyone you’re not the creative type, I highly recommend Creative Courage by Tom Kelley & David Kelley. The book proposes that each and every one of us is creative. It identifies strategies that allow us to tap into our creative potential at work, and in our personal lives. This book will teach you how to stretch and work your creative muscles, so you never need to say "I'm not creative again." Disclaimer: Affiliate links are used in this post. Gidday from NZ
I made 3 of the 20" crosses out of very resinous native timber called Rimu. The timber had many colours and patterns and after sanding I had them finished in a clear top coat car paint. They really stood out. Gave 2 of them away to very good friends, one of whom lives in the states and the other to a friend in NZ. The 3rd I gave to a young girl who I work with to give to her parents for a xmas present. She sent a video clip of them opening it and by the reaction they were delighted to have got such a present. Thank you for the design and the pleasure I have had giving them to those people. Regards
